The Annie Fellows Johnston Room
This room is named for the popular 19th Century author of books for young
people (and the young at heart). Her fondness for the
Culbertson children
led her to adopt them as the characters Malcolm and Keith, the "Two Little
Knights of Kentucky," who play a significant role throughout the Little Colonel
stories

The room is furnished with mid to
late Victorian Kentucky antiques and has a private Victorian tile and marble bath. In the
room you will find mementos of Mrs. Johnston and the "Two Little Knights of Kentucky,"
including a complete vintage set of the Little Colonel books, and a
portrait given by another friend of the Culbertson's, Henry Watterson, the influential
19th Century Pulitzer Prize winning editor of The Courier-Journal |
